Abstract:
Aphis gossypii Glover is one of the most important pests of cucumber plant. In this study, the effects of three different concentrations of two types of fertilizers including NPK+ET (3, 4.5 and 6 Kg/ha) and nano fertilizer (micro and macro elements) (2, 3 and 4 Kg/ha) were investigated on life table parameters of A. gossypii. Because these type of fertilizers are consumed during the growth period of cucumbers in the greenhouses. At stages 4-5 Real Leaf of cucumber, 5 A. gossypii adult aphids was placed on each hostplant. After 12 hours, just one first instar aphid nymph retained and other nymphs were removed. Then nymphal duration, survivorship and daily reproduction were recorded. The experiments were carried out using clip-cages fixed on leaves of cucumber growing in pots under laboratory conditions (25 ± 1 °C, 65 ± 5% RH and a photoperiod of 16:8 h (L: D)). Life table parameters were estimated according to age stage, two-sex life table method. The results indicated that the aphid intrinsic rate of increase (r) was 0.319 day-1 on control treatment and 0.234, 0.324 and 0.359 day-1 on 3, 4.5 and 6 concentrations of fertilizer NPK+ET and 0.365, 0.362 and 0.359 day-1 on nano fertilizer concentrations, respectively. The lowest (14.196 offspring) and highest (43.412 offspring) values of R0 were observed on NPK+ET and Nano fertilizers at 3 Kg/ha concentration, respectively. The lowest (1.268 day-1) and highest (1.441 day-1) values of λ were observed on NPK+ET (3 Kg/ha) and Nano fertilizers (2 Kg/ha), respectively. The lowest and highest mean generation time (T) were observed in Nano fertilizer (2 Kg/ha) and control treatment, respectively. The fecundity was lowest (31.333 nymphs/female) at NPK+ET (3 Kg/ha) and the highest (48.725 nymphs/female) at Nano fertilizers (4 Kg/ha), respectively. These fertilizers can increase the quality of plants, also enhances their nutritional suitability for insect herbivores. Different fertilizers and their concentrations have different effects on aphid population increase parameters.
