Abstract:
To introduce proper insecticide formulations and to diversify insecticide mode of action for harmful grasshoppers, lambda cyhalothrin (Amigo ULV 4%, Pyrethroid insecticide) was tested against Moroccan locust (Dociostaurus maroccanus Thunberg). This experiment was conducted in two regions of Iran, Lowshan (Guilan province) and Abbar (Zanjan province). The area of each experimental plot was 1000 m2. Spinning disk sprayer was used for ULV formulation and hydraulic sprayer was used for spraying malathion (EC 57%). Results showed that percent mortality for Amigo ULV 4% at 300 and 500 ml/ha and Malathion EC 57% at 1 L/ha at 1 day post application were 95.8 ± 1.4%, 97.3 ± 1.3% and 81.9 ± 3.5 % in Lowshan and 89.2 ± 2.9%, 91.6 ± 2.6% and 89 ± 3.1% in Abbar, respectively. Similarly, corrected mortality rates were calculated as 83.1 ± 7.3%, 90.9 ± 1.6% and 82.5 ± 5.8% in Lowshan and 87.8 ±5.2%, 94.5 ± 1.15% and 88.4 ± 3.8% in Abbar 3 days post application, respectively. Means comparison showed that in both regions, both Amigo ULV doses were in a same statistical group. Therefore, in order to reduce the rate of application of insecticides, the Amigo ULV 4% can be recommended for short horned grasshoppers control at 300 ml / ha.
