Abstract:
Eriophyoidea is a large mite superfamily with a worldwide distribution. They are strictly phytophagous, many of them can have the pest status in agricultural systems and are considered the second most economically important group of mite plant pests. During the study of plant samples collected in Sari county, Mazandaran province, Iran, in summer 2017, eriophyoid mites were recovered using a modified washing method. The mites were slide mounted and morphological measurements were taken by means of a phase contrast microscope Olympus BX41. In result eight species belonging to two family of the super family Eriophyoidea are described here among which two species are new records to the fauna of Iran and six species are new records to the fauna of Mazandaran province, which are marked with two and one asterisks, respectively:
Eriophyidae: Cecidophyes digephyrus Keifer, 1966** and Acaricalus rubrifoliae Labanowski & Soika, 2002** from Quercus castaneifolia C. A. May., 1831 (Fagaceae), Tegnacus unicornutus Pye, 2012* from Carpinus betulus L. (Betulaceae), Shevtchenkella ulmi (Farkas, 1960)* from Ulmus minor Mill. (Ulmaceae), Phyllocoptes abaenus Keifer, 1940* from Prunus domestica L. (Rosaceae). Diptilomiopidae: Rhyncaphytoptus ficifoliae keifer, 1939* from Ficus carica L.
